Goals or No goals?

I’m not really good at goal setting- I really want to be. I love some office supplies and organization, and planners….I buy one every year(even the real Day Designer, but I gave it to a friend because I wasn’t using it)…but it doesn’t always translate into my life. I had to stop following all of the organizers and people trying to teach me how to bullet journal and people selling goal setting sheets on Instagram because I was just feeling worse about myself. But, I do want to let the whole world know that I do have a goal- and it’s the end of January and I still have not started it until this post. I want to write a little more (see, low expectations.)

So, to start this off, a recap of 2017! My favorite arrangements of 2018- and why!

I’ve never really thought about yellow being synonymous with spring, but these flowers really made me long for spring to arrive. They renewed my love for daffodils, maybe so much that I planted 100 this year- I think about 5 varieties. I’ll keep you posted on the progress.

These were the most beautiful peonies that I have ever seen. They were just show stoppers. One was enough to make a statement. I was nervous just ordering enough for one peony per arrangement. But, I’m glad I did and I think it worked. I also loved these white arrangements- I was trying to use fewer flowers in a better format.

This might be my favorite color combo of the whole year, I think it’s the campanella rose(yellowish peach) and the foxglove. It was if the moon and the stars aligned and the flowers that I ordered were the colors that I wanted and it just worked out.

And- this arrangement introduced me to a special person that you will hear more about this summer when I show you the flowers from her wedding we have been working on!

Like most things in my life, I go all in, get tired and realize I have over committed. It was no different when I decided that I was going to learn how to start seeds in the winter and then get them to my yard. It was a lot of trial and error, but more error. The sweetpeas were a total disappointment. They were brilliant until they were not. I was so bummed. However, there were some serious bright spots- hyacinth bean vine, cosmos, celosia, and of course so many zinnias. Anyway, I had a blast inspecting the growth every day. And, no surprise, I have over ordered again this year!  Cheers to the zinnias, the easiest flower in the world to grow. I have pictures to prove it!

I loved this one. We had a pretty big branch fall in our yard- like really big. These limbs made the perfect nest for the flowers. I thought I was fairly resourceful and it was kinda zinnia chic.

This is my friend, Mary Frances. Most all of the dahlias came from her farm. Her farm is beautiful and side note- her honey is so great too. I wrote about her earlier this year!

Another group of flowers that was a favorite- were the Easter flowers at our church. I have loved being on a flower guild. I even wrote about it. Join one if you can- church ladies are pretty funny. One thing that I’m realizing is that I do love some pale flowers. If you could see my house, I have a hot pink bathroom, crazy rugs, and crazy color everywhere, I’m typically drawn to color. This Easter color palate was so beautiful and looked so elegant in the marble containers. And- I was practicing this horizontal thing. I really ended up liking it so much.

Well, go all out, right. The guy was HUGE. I mean really big. And, I wish I had a real picture of it because even the portrait mode wouldn’t do it justice.

This last group was so fun to work on. I had watched a few webinars about some different techniques and I thought I would try it. And, the pink footbath was screaming my name.

And, one to grow on because I LOVE these coral tulips in front of the turquoise pillows. #complementarycolors

So now, hello to 2018. Goal can be checked off. I wrote a post.

I will write another soon, because it will be Valentine’s Day and I will be selling some flowers. I wish I could be like Oprah and scream “Flowers for you, flowers for you, YOU ALL GET FLOWERS!”, but I can’t I have to sell them. So come buy some if you like! Details to follow!

  1. Just beautiful Charlotte-ALL of them. I look forward to seeing your creativity in 2018!

  3. Charlotte, I absolutely LOVE this! You are so talented. I love flowers but have no talent to grow or arrange them. I’m living vicariously through you! I do hope you’ll have another girls night where you show how to do this (for the beginner). I’m in!

  4. This whole post made me smile! The beautiful arrangements, your thoughts behind them, and your witty writing make it imperative that you post more!! Miss you and welcome an arrangement in Charlotte.
